April Snow Trail (Central Taiwan)

Contents Summary Contents Summary Contents Summary

Located in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County, the April Snow Trail is a popular springtime hiking trail for admiring tung blossoms. It's named for the snowflake-like pattern of tung blossoms falling when in full bloom. The trail entrance is located next to the Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum. The trail is approximately 2.6 kilometers long, with elevations ranging from 374 to 515 meters. The trail consists of wooden steps, dirt paths, and stone paths, creating a gentle slope suitable for families and the general public.

Tung blossom season occurs from April to May each year. Tall tung trees line the trail, their petals blanketing the ground like a blanket of snow. Hakka cultural landscapes and wood carvings adorn the trail, adding a touch of cultural flair. The trail ends at the Tzu Chi Tea Garden, offering expansive views of the Yuanli Plain and Tongxiao Coast. There's a rest pavilion and a garden surrounded by the aroma of tea.

The April Snow Trail is open year-round, but it's recommended to visit during the flower season. You can also visit surrounding attractions like Sanyi Woodcarving Street, Shengxing Station, and Longteng Broken Bridge, enjoying a trip to Miaoli where nature and culture intertwine.
