Qianjin Braised Pork Rice is a long-standing snack shop in Kaohsiung's Qianjin District. Established in 1959, it has been passed down for three generations. Its rich, yet melt-in-your-mouth braised pork rice has become a favorite among locals and gourmets alike. Located on Chenggong 1st Road in Qianjin District, near Datong Hospital and an office building, the shop opens at 7:15 AM and runs until sold out. It's recommended to avoid the midday rush hour to avoid long waits.

The signature dish is the braised pork rice with a soft-boiled duck egg bun. The braised pork is simmered for over ten hours with pork back fat and shallots, resulting in a glossy, sticky, and fragrant braised pork. The duck egg bun is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a rich, silky yolk that blends perfectly with the braised pork rice. A version with fish floss is also available, using hand-fried milkfish chunks for an added layer of flavor.

As for the side dishes, the braised tofu is juicy and tender, while the fish skin soup is refreshingly sweet and refreshing, complementing the rich fish. The restaurant operates an a la carte system, so both dine-in and takeout require a queue. While the service is friendly, be aware of the process.

In 2023, Qianjin Braised Pork Rice received a Michelin Bib Gourmand recommendation, becoming a representative of Kaohsiung's traditional breakfast. Whether it's your first visit or a return visit, this braised pork rice is worth getting up early to try.
